Abstract

The practice of non-rigid roads operating due to the increased traffic flow over the years shows the destruction of asphalt pavement prior to the completion of its service life. Cracking and track formation of non-rigid pavement leads to the reduction in its service life and, accordingly, the reduction ofthe entire pavement structure lifespan as a whole.

One of the main reasons for the formation of the track is that most roads and streets were designed for the design load of group A (100kN per axle) and group B (60kN per axle), which are insufficient for the current increase in load and intensity.

Traditional bitumen as a part of asphalt concrete mix is not capable ofproviding th necessary strength characteristics at the increased loading on an asphalt concrete covering. As a result, there is a need to improve it with modifying additives.

This paper is devoted to determining the changes in the physical and mechanical properties of asphalt concrete modified with the additive Elvaloy-4170, which combines the properties of polymer, wax and adhesive additive.
